Analysis of returnee entrepreneurs
While the majority of returnees have chosen to work in existing companies, some prefer starting up their own business. Entrepreneurship is one of the hottest trend of China’s job market in recent years. For returnees, the main reason for them to start up a business is the better entrepreneurial environment in China. Due to the strong support of government, they are optimistic with the potential and prospects of entrepreneurship in China. Besides, closer family connection has also been an important motivation for them. See the chart below for details.
The city returnees choose to start up depends on various factors. Their major concerns include the industrial base, prospect of the market, preferential policy, and whether they have existing person connections in the city. The level of house price and operational costs, by contrast, are of secondary importance to their concerns. In terms of the area of their start-up business, new biomedical engineering and medicine, information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing and creative industries are the majors. Compared to domestic entrepreneurs, returnees said that their strengths lie in the ability of establishing overseas branches, building connections with foreign enterprises and acquiring overseas investment. However, they also expressed their need for more government support that can be implemented efficiently.
Open day is an occasion on which hiring companies are open for inspection by potential candidates. In order to give candidates more detailed insights, staff from the company will show candidates around, present and explain relevant information including company culture, job details, department setting and promotion system, etc. Open day encourages candidates to progress their interest and confirm their intentions of working in the company.

Global University Career Development Conference & Fair 2017
On the last day of Global University Career Development Conference, Lockin China and GUCCU will hold the Chinese Returnees Career Development Fair in Beijing, collaborating with various kinds of companies.
The career fair will be quite different from the traditional ones: Each candidates will get at least 10 minutes to talk with HRs, which could be seen as the formal first round interview. And as a result, the number of participants is limited to maximal 600.
Also at the job fair, participating career offices will get a stand in the venue and develop in-depth conversations with HRs from 25 participating companies as well as alumni at one time.
