80 Days Event for Talents from Overseas is a global campaign for Chinese students who study abroad. During the event 36 pre-work training workshops were held in global universities in Australia, UK, US and Europe. The event covers over 300,000 target students. 12,000+ students enrolled to the workshop, of whom over 80% attended the workshop. To meet the need of job seekers, Lockin China was authorized by 600+ Employers in China, posting over 10,000 positions including about 3,000 internship opportunities. 80,000+ applications were filled during this time and over 100,000 job applications have been sent.

At the meanwhile, Lockin China also shared with career advisers the facts about the China Job Market as a recruiter and discussed about how to do the trainings to help students make preparations for their career life. We’ve also got some requests from universities in cities which we didn’t cover this time and did several Webinars for their students online. Lockin China is not only expert in recruiting in China, but also a supporter of careers service of global universities. How Chinese Candidates want to be recruited

While job seeking, Chinese candidates are definitely not active, not actively looking for a new job or casually looking to see what’s out there. According to a report by LinkedIn, only 22% of Chinese professionals are active, lower than the world’s average level (36%). At the meanwhile, 95% of Chinese job seekers are open to career opportunities.

By campus-recruiting, Chinese overseas students seem to be calmer. Lockin China finds out that only 19.1% of Chinese students are going to make preparation for job seeking before graduation, even though they are under great job-seeking stress. As a result, Chinese returnees usually miss the golden time of campus recruiting and find it difficult to get an offer.

How to encourage students make preparations before more actively? We should solve the above described contradiction. Firstly, job opportunities should be pushed to students via newsletter or other channels. According to Lockin China’s experience, the application number increase by ten times after a position is pushed to job seekers.

Secondly, career trainings or other career events should be organized to draw the attention of students to career preparation. After the Pre-Work Training Program by global universities and Lockin China, students have become more active by job seeking. Even about 80% of the students involved in this event have sent several applications to employers.

In conclusion, Chinese seekers are more willing to be founded or hunted by employers. They are not as active as employers expected and should be encouraged to take some actions to find jobs. 







Global University Career Development Conference 2017

In 2016, Lockin China held in Beijing the first Career Development Conference for Global Elite Universities. A total of 28 heads of career office from the US, Australia, UK, Germany and Spain attended the conference. They represented over 20 global elites universities such as University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), Michigan State University, Northeastern University, the University of Adelaide, University of New South Wales, University of Sydney, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), the University of Warwick, ESADE Business School, Technische Universität München etc.

The conference tour started in Beijing and came to an end in Shanghai, where the last station of Chinese Returnees Career Development Fair took place. Career officers benefited not only from the company visit to DiDi Chuxing, BOE, Decathlon and BFSU International, but also from communication between universities and Chinese recruting experts. In 2017, the conference tour will start this time in Shanghai on 19th March and end in Beijing on 25th March. Please also check the invitation letter we sent to you in the last week.
